Located in the north of Isère, Panossas is a pleasant place to live, close to all the amenities as well as major business hubs like the Ain plain and the region east of Lyon.
Panossas enjoys a varied landscape, with plateaus and plains that shelter a rich diversity of animal and plant life. This explains why it boasts a protected "Natura 2000" area, home to 256 plant species and 201 different animals. The European pond turtle is among the wildlife that has thrived here since the municipal council undertook a project relating to the Marsa lake and lakeside sensitive natural site. Following work carried out in 2008 and 2009 to secure the site, it was opened to school groups, walkers and anglers in 2010.
The village centre stands on a hillside, with its hamlets (Marsa, Antouillet, Serre, Maupertuis, Quincieu, etc.) scattered on either side. The surrounding scenery makes this a great destination for hikers and mountain bikers!
