Land of the legend of the inscription of Les Charmes in Brangues
Presentation
"Whoever has seen me has mourned, whoever sees me again shall mourn". This inscription was discovered at Pierre Brune, on a slab placed against a rock that is usually submerged by the waters of the Rhône.
According to collective memory, the slab was placed there during a period of severe drought which brought hardship to the countryside populations.
But this explanation does nothing to dispell the legend of a "sapine" (a large barge-type vessel) that is said to have sunk at Les Charmes. The victims were never found and the submerged rocks remain a highly dangerous hazard.
