Cozance Chapel
Presentation
The current chapel stands on foundations which, along with the side-chapel arch and the stone door posts of the De La Poype chapel, may date back to the late 14th century.
A few 15th-century items have been conserved including the twin windows decorated with latticed stone top frames and elegant scrollwork of an almost flamboyant Gothic style. Unfortunately, the original porch and front facade no longer exist.
The rose window and the stone used for the doorway date from the 19th century, with stone mouldings and a slender arcature that makes the building look narrow from the front, especially as its height was increased during the last century.
Inside, the chancel and the De La Poype chapel appear to be 15th century, as do the mortuary flagstone and some of the mouldings and arches.
After being left to abandon for several years, this atypical place of worship was renovated by a local association and the chapel can now be visited.
